What happens with hereditary hair loss
DHT and the hair root
In hereditary hair loss the hair roots are sensitive to the hormone DHT. The root shrinks a little more every cycle and the hair that grows from it gets thinner. This is why a topical treatment works on DHT at the scalp, where the problem sits.
