The KÁDESO™ Dermaroller

Tackle hair loss at the cause. Our topical finasteride 0.25% is prepared in the Netherlands according to pharmaceutical standards. You apply it to your scalp, not your stomach.

  • Inhibits DHT at the source: DHT is the hormone that makes your hair follicles shrink. Finasteride inhibits that process, so you keep what you have. It absorbs quickly and doesn't feel greasy or sticky.
  • Safely prepared in a Dutch pharmacy: on prescription from a BIG-registered dermatologist.
  • Easy & quick: A phone intake with the doctor. After that you automatically receive a new bottle every 3 months. No repeat prescriptions to collect.

And free extras for your routine:

Two products for your scalp, included as standard in your first delivery. Not medication: your prescribed treatment is prepared separately by the pharmacy.

Dermaroller A small roller with very fine needles that you move gently over your scalp. Once a week is enough. Rolling more often isn't better: your scalp needs time to recover. Not required, but recommended as part of your weekly routine.
Derma Cleaner Cleaning fluid made for your dermaroller. Clean it before and after every use and let it dry. That keeps the roller hygienic and makes it last longer. Belongs with rolling as standard. Never skip this step.
How does it work?

You apply the treatment to the scalp once a day. It dries quickly and the whole routine takes about 30 seconds. That's all, so it fits easily into your morning or evening routine.

This treatment contains one active ingredient. Topical finasteride lowers the DHT level locally in the scalp, the hormone that shrinks hair follicles in hereditary hair loss. By slowing that process, this version targets the cause of hair loss.

This version is for men who prefer to leave out minoxidil, for example because they didn't respond well to it before or want the simplest possible formula. Our doctor uses the questionnaire to assess whether this suits your situation.

Ingredients
  • Finasteride 0.25%
  • Propylene glycol
  • Aqua Purificata
  • Ethanol 96% Ph. Eur
  • Acidum (s)-lacticum 90%

We also offer a version without propylene glycol, for people who are allergic to it. After your order, just contact us at contact@kadeso.nl, and we'll adjust it for you.

Besides 0.25%, a lower strength is possible, for example 0.05%. Send us a message beforehand via WhatsApp.

What's in the treatment?
  • Topical finasteride Your personal formula with finasteride 0.25%, compounded by a Dutch pharmacy. Apply to the scalp once a day. Enough for 3 months.

You also receive

  • Dermaroller A small roller with very fine needles that you move gently over your scalp. Once a week is enough. Rolling more often isn't better: your scalp needs time to recover. Not required, but recommended.
  • Derma Cleaner Cleaning fluid for your dermaroller. Clean it before and after every use and let it dry, so the roller stays hygienic and lasts longer.

These two products are included as standard in your first delivery. They are cosmetic products, not medication: they don't replace your prescribed treatment.

Not sure whether rolling suits your situation? Mention it in the questionnaire and our doctor will take it into account in the review.

Sensitive scalp or irritation?

A dry, itchy or easily irritated scalp is one of the most common reasons men stop a treatment. Often that's not down to the active ingredient, but to the base it's mixed into.

Propylene glycol is the most common culprit. Because we have our formulas compounded, we can also make a version without propylene glycol.

You indicate in the questionnaire that you have a sensitive scalp or have had irritation before. Our doctor takes this into account in the review and adjusts the formula accordingly. Questions about this after your order? Email us at contact@kadeso.nl.

Shipping & returns

The treatment ships on the first and third Monday of the month, because our doctor needs time to review your intake. The extra products are sent with your first delivery.

Shipping is discreetly packaged and delivered straight to your home.

Please note: returns are not possible, because this is medication.

How topical finasteride works

The problem: DHT

DHT weakens the hair roots and causes hair loss

DHT is a substance in your scalp that weakens your hair roots. That makes your hair fall out.

Stop the shedding

Hair roots protected from DHT fall out less quickly

You apply it to your scalp. There it keeps DHT away from your hair roots, so your hair falls out less quickly.

Keep using it

Daily use maintains the result

If you use it every day, you keep the result.

Based on research into finasteride. Results vary per person.

Clinical research

Pill vs topical

A European study of 458 men compared finasteride as a pill and topically, on the scalp. This is what was seen after 24 weeks.

Oral · pill
  • Extra hairs per cm²+21
  • Drop in DHT in the blood56%
Topical · on the scalp
  • Extra hairs per cm²+20
  • Drop in DHT in the blood35%

‹ swipe for both forms ›

Topical gave over 100 times less active ingredient in the blood than the pill.

About the study

Phase III, double-blind and randomised. 458 men aged 18 to 40, in 45 clinics in Europe, over 24 weeks.

Piraccini et al., J Eur Acad Dermatol Venereol 2022;36(2):286-294. Read the study

What do the numbers mean?

Extra hairs: average increase on 1 cm² of the crown, from a starting point of about 200 hairs.

Drop in DHT: how much the hormone DHT dropped in the whole body, not just in the scalp.

Active ingredient in the blood: on average 48 pg/mL topical versus 5,029 pg/mL with the pill.

This is not medical advice. Local application is not registered in the Netherlands for this indication and is only available on prescription, after review by a doctor.

Who is behind KÁDESO

Our specialist is bald himself. Because he was too late.

Hair follicles that are completely gone don't come back. Thin hair can become thicker again. That's why this is his mission: making sure you're on time.

Dermatologist · professor · trichology advisor

Prof. dr. Janmohamed lost his hair at a young age. Not because nothing could be done, but because he started too late. That lesson now shapes his work. As long as a hair follicle is alive, you can keep it and thin hair can become thicker. Once the follicle is completely gone, it doesn't come back. That's why he reviews every request personally, as a recognised dermatologist and professor specialised in hair and scalp. His mission: making sure other men don't end up like him.

Because he was too late. His hair loss started at a young age, and he didn't act in time. Hair follicles that have completely disappeared don't come back. That's true for everyone, a professor included. What is possible: making thin hair thicker and keeping the hair you have. That's exactly why timing is his message to every patient. The sooner you start, the more there is to save.

Hair loss has many causes: hereditary, hormonal, a condition of the scalp. A dermatologist is the specialist who recognises exactly those differences. He knows what he's looking at and decides on that basis whether a treatment suits you, and which one. That's the difference between a medicine you happen to get prescribed and a treatment reviewed by the right specialist.

Frequently asked questions

What is finasteride?

Finasteride inhibits the enzyme 5α-reductase, which converts testosterone into DHT (dihydrotestosterone). DHT is the hormone that shrinks hair follicles and so causes hereditary hair loss. With less DHT, finasteride can stop or slow hair loss, so you keep what you have.

What causes hair loss in men?

The most common cause is hereditary (androgenetic) hair loss. The hormone DHT gradually weakens your hair follicles, so hairs get thinner and thinner until they eventually stop growing. The sooner you act, the more hair you can keep.

What is topical finasteride and how does it differ from the pill?

The difference is the route of administration. A tablet is absorbed through the digestive tract and spreads through the body via the bloodstream. Topical finasteride is applied to the scalp, where it is absorbed locally through the skin. Even with local application, part of the active ingredient reaches the bloodstream; how much depends on things like the strength, the base and the amount applied. The doctor assesses which form is suitable.

Is finasteride effective?

Finasteride is one of the best-researched treatments for hereditary hair loss. It tackles the cause (DHT) around the hair follicle and can stop or clearly slow hair loss. Results vary per person and are only maintained with consistent use.

Is topical finasteride as effective as oral (the pill)?

In a randomised phase III study of 458 men, the number of hairs increased with topical application to a similar degree as with the tablet (Piraccini et al., JEADV 2022). Important: that study used a specific dose and a different formula base than ours. Research outcomes don't automatically apply to other strengths or amounts. The doctor assesses what is suitable in your situation.

Are there side effects?

Yes, they are possible. Locally, a dry, itchy or irritated scalp is most common. In addition, rare systemic side effects are generally reported with finasteride, such as reduced libido or erection problems. Part of the active ingredient is absorbed into the bloodstream even when applied to the skin, so these side effects cannot be ruled out. Discuss this with the doctor during your intake, and contact us if you experience complaints.

How long until I see results?

Hair grows slowly. Most men see the first change after about 3 to 6 months, with a fuller look around 12 months. Daily, consistent use is important.

Can I just stop taking finasteride?

The effect only lasts as long as you use it. If you stop, hair loss gradually returns over time. Want to stop or change your treatment? Talk to your doctor first.

Do I need a prescription?

Yes. Topical finasteride is prescription-only and is only supplied after a short online intake reviewed by a Dutch doctor, and prepared by a Dutch pharmacy. You fill in a questionnaire that takes a few minutes.

Who is it (not) suitable for?

Topical finasteride is intended for adult men with hereditary hair loss. It is not suitable for women who are pregnant or want to become pregnant. Our doctor assesses during the intake whether the treatment suits you.

This is general information, not medical advice. Topical finasteride is not approved by the CBG/EMA for hair loss and is supplied exclusively through a Dutch doctor and pharmacy, for adults.
